The primary duty of a funeral director is being responsible for the arrangements burial or cremation of the deceased and for the funeral rituals that precede it.

The main responsibilities of a funeral director can be categorized into four, namely: moving the corpse, readying it for the service, making arrangements for the services where loved ones may pay their final respects, and carrying out the final procedures on the body.
