Tips On Painting Your Roof Tiles

The concrete tiles are a popular choice as far as rendering a strong cover to your roof is concerned. The fancy designs and colors of these concrete tiles is what sets them apart from other options available in the market.

However, the maintenance of these concrete tiles has to considered from time to time as they’re prone to constant devaluation. Since the roof is exposed to the external agents such as air, water, dust and sunlight, they tend to lose their polish very quickly. Therefore, the paint that you apply on these tiles must be of best quality.

Kick off the assignment by cleaning off the surface of these tiles. Grab a finely bristled brush and a bucket of hot water to initialize the task. Make sure that an appropriate amount of detergent is dissolved in the hot water. Rinse the surface of the tiles with the brush and remove the grease, residue, debris and other foreign materials from the surface of the tiles. Keep cleaning the tiles until no residue is noticed.

Visit a local hardware store and demand a fixed amount of acrylic exterior paint and respective primer. The primer eases off the surface of the tiles and hence, it should entirely be acrylic. Ask the salesperson to suggest a pure acrylic paint which doesn’t contain any other component such as latex.

The exact quantity of paint required is determined by a roofer who carries the required expertise to evaluate the area to be painted. Based on that, he notifies you of the approximate amount of paint and the primer that you are likely to utilize.

Once all the supplies are bought home, take a large-sized brush and prime the tiles with a thin layer of acrylic primer such that no tile is left stranded.

Thereafter pick up the bucket of paint and add some oil into it to make it a bit dilute. Apply one coating of the paint on the tiles and after a gap of about 2-3 hours, apply one more coating.

At the end, apply a sealer on the already painted tiles. The sealer prevents the paint from cracking and chipping and hence, lasts long.
