Wedding On A Budget
Did you really expect to be planning a budget wedding? It really happened! You are going to get married! Now it is time for that sometimes daunting task of planning the wedding. It might be a good idea to plan your wedding using a budget.
I have been told that the cost of weddings these days is in the neighborhood of $25,000. I don’t know about you, but I would have trouble putting my hands on that much money at one time. This is one reason why planning a wedding budget is so important.
The day that two people pledge their love to each other in front of God, family, and friends, is like a dream come true. But, it can be an expensive dream that can leave those two lovebirds in hock up to their eyeballs when they are just starting out together. You can still have a gorgeous wedding without taking out a giant-sized loan.
Traditionally, it is the bride’s family that pays for the wedding. It is like the practice of offering a dowry. When the woman becomes a part of the man’s family, she must come with something of value. With the types of wedding that couples plan these days, parents would have to dip into their nest egg to pay for it. If they had more than one daughter, they could be in for financial trouble.
Begin by putting together a list of the most important things you will need to make your day a success. This will give you an idea of how much money you are going to need in the beginning. You may have money left over after the basics have been covered. Great. I am sure you can find use for the extra money to enhance your wedding or honeymoon.
In stead of asking parents for a wedding gift, you could ask them for a donation to your wedding fund. If each family contributed equal amounts, say $6000, you would already have $12,000 with which to start.
Next, talk to your friends and family. Are any of them in the wedding business, or do they know someone who is? Could they help you get a discount on things like the photographer, flowers, the place for the reception or your honeymoon?
These people can provide you with what you need for a discount on the regular price. The tremendous savings can be used for items like wedding party gifts, extra decorations for the church and reception area, or a fancier wedding dress.
As you can see, planning a wedding on a budget can be done. In the process, you might just be able to avoid a lot of debt.
